Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Illinois

Job Dismissal

I was recently dismissed from my job and I am appealing this decision. The VP of Human Resources wants to speak with me on the phone, but I am hesitant to do this and prefer discussions to be via email. Do I have to speak with him and if so, what do I need to be careful of?

Re: Job Dismissal

Are you an 'at-will employee' or do you have a contract? Why does the HR VP want to now meet with you? Are they contesting your unemployment? Offering you severance? You are right to be concerned about conversations with the employer. You would be wise to engage an attorney to be with you.

Re: Job Dismissal

You are right to be careful. Why were you dismissed? That could affect what you need to be careful of. You could be better protected if you had an attorney with you. Do you want to hire an attorney? This answer does not constitute legal advice because you are not as yet my client.
