Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

re: DUI (transfering from IL to another state?)

My fiance was convicted of a DUI in Illinios a little over a year ago. I moved to CT for a job. Can he transfer to CT as well? (He currently is not allowed to leave the state.)

Also, if he leaves the state without notifying anyone, if we apply for marriage license in CT, will the clerk know of his DUI conviction and/or will the clerk be obligated to notify authorities in IL?

Your fiancee should go to court and ask the judge's permission to move to CT. Often for misdemeanor cases, judges will grant such a request with good reason. He may be required to return for court dates, or perhaps for other requirements, but leaving without permission can cause significant other problems, including jail.
