Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

I had a party with just my close friends at my new apartment. The cops showed up because of a noise complaint. My cousin, that I live with, opened the door, then left it open about half way while he was turning down the music. When i went to talk the the cops, they walked into my apartment without asking me. then gave out 4 illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor tickets. Its a $250 fine if i dont contest. Do i have a good chance of getting out of this ticket if I get an attorney ? Thanks

With the few facts you have given and without knowing anything further about your case, you do have a good chance of getting the tickets dismissed. A police officer cannot enter your home/residence without a search warrant or without seeing something illegal occurring. Underage drinking is not one of those categories that allows an officer to enter your residence unless someone who had alcohol in their hands looked like a child (very young). This is the type of case that could be thrown out with a motion.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss your matter further.

good luck
