hello my 16 year old son wants to come back home and live with me at age 17 he was adopted out at age 3 can he legally leave his adopted home and come live with me without the police making him return to his adopted home

He is still a minor. Unless he seeks emancipation, his adoptive parents still have some measure of control over him until he turns 18.

More importantly, you can be charged with harboring a runaway. He may be your biological son but he is someone else's son legally and that is what counts. You could even be in serious trouble if you are meeting with the boy without his parents' permission. Strongly suggest that you sever all ties until he is 18.
