Child Custody

A single mother with a live in botfriend have a child. She wants to leave him and he threatens to get custody of the child. His family has money and she is an independent woman putting herself through school and raising her daughter. He uses prescription drugs like they are Tic Tacs. What are the chances he would get custody of thier daughter?

The putative father is at a distinct disadvantage to take custody of a child. The mother is presumed to be the custodial parent. The biological father is required to pay child support however, which is 20% of his net income for one child.

If the father is not paying child support, even though they live together, he should.
