Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

custody change of minor children in the state of Illinois

My Fiancee's 12 yr old daughter ( she will be 13 in May)has expressed a very strong intrest on many occasions that she wants to come live with us once we are married . She has expressed the intrest not only to us but to her advisor at her JR High as well as to her mother.

He was divorced in March of 2003 and his ex wife was appointed the custodial parent of their children .

At what age is a minor allowed to make a decision on which parent they would prefer to live with .What is the law in Illinois on such matter and does she have that choice as a minor.

At what age is a minor allowed to make a decision on which parent they would prefer to live with? No age, that's why they call them minors .What is the law in Illinois on such matter and does she have that choice as a minor. The court looks to the best interests of the child.
