Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

Fmla date of enforcement

I was told as of the date our administrative mgr. signed the FMLA form I could start taking FMLA days until it was either denied or accepted. Now I'm told it has to be agreed to by the company first. I took an FMLA day for my mother and now they want to write me up.

Also, can they deny me if the mail holds up the paperwork and it is not received within 14 days if the postmark on the envelope shows it was mailed in plenty of time?

Re: Fmla date of enforcement

If you properly applied for FMLA leave under your company's policy and the leave was for a covered event, you should not be written up.
