Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

Using sick leave for FMLA leave

I am a teacher taking a FMLA leave for pregnancy during the fall of next year. Although I have over 75 sick days, my employer informed me that I can only use six weeks (30 days) of time for my leave and the other 30 days must go unpaid. Why can't I use my own sick days?

Thanks.

Re: Using sick leave for FMLA leave

Absent some unusual policy or circumstance, you should be able to take 12 weeks off and be able to use your sick days for those weeks.
