Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

hit and run

My mother's dog followed her outside this morning and was run over by a newspaper delivery person. the windows were down and my mom yelled to the woman driving, ''You hit her!'' the woman looked at my mom and kept right on driving. my mom had the dog cremated, and was crying when i talked to her later in the day after my sister had notified me. she was very broken up. can the driver be held liable? How about the newspaper company (chicago tribune)? I guess my basic question is: is there a lawsuit here, and if so; is it worth pursuing?

thanks, bob

Re: hit and run

There may well be depending on the details of the incident. How did it happen. If the driver was careless and he was driving a company car then the Tribune can be named a defendant

Whether it is worth pursuing depends on the amount of damages.

I hope this helps,
