Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

verbal agreements

My ex-husband and I are selling our house as part of our divorce agreement, which states that we split the profits 50/50. If we later made a verbal agreement that he would keep $5,000 and I would keep $10,000 of the profits, can that be legally upheld? We are about to close on the house and he is now wanting half, even though I have a witness to our verbal agreement?

Re: verbal agreements

Oral agreements can be valid in Illinois. Find a lawyer to help you pursue it if you really think it's worthwhile.
