Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I am in Illinois and have worked/been paid as a 1099 subcontractor for approx 10 years. for one certain company.Everything has been fine until about 2 years ago. They now owe me money that I have been unable to collect for approx 2 years. Now I have heard the owner is going to sell the business. What can I do to attempt to collect the money?

Thanks,

Phil

Although you mention you have been treated as a "1099" worker, you may very well be an employee. If you are an employee, you would have a right to youyr earned wages over other non-secured creditors, which is why you should contact an attorney as soon as possible to help you determine how to best protect your interests.
