Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I am considering requesting a Family Responsibility leave of absence, am I able to use this leave to supervise and care for my child during school breaks, one of the standards of the request is to provide verification documentation consistent with the request, I have provided a school schedule, my request to be off to care and supervise my child and documentation/verification that my child has special needs and this has been verified through signatures from a social worker, psychologistand case manager... however my employer is stating that I need to have a written note stating that I need to be off work to care for my child.. isnt this self explanatory, I am the head of my household, I am raising my child alone. I have established consistency with verification, shouldn't this be enough according to the writing in the policy of Family Responsibility Leave.

Although it might seem self-evident, you should try to comply with the request. Have you asked the employer who they expect to write such verification? It seems hardly fair that your employer has a policy but throws up unreasonable roadblocks for you to use the leave.
