Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

I was living with a roommate in an apartment building in Illinois. I was paying rent then lost job. I am not on the lease nor was my roommate. His mom signed the lease for us to stay there. I'm nineteen. I didn't pay Decembers rent so we got into a fight. I left for three weeks to stay at dads house. All my stuff was still there including most of my clothes... I returned and the door was locked and he wouldn't let me in. I opened the window and climbed through. I just wanted my belongings. He calls the cops and I get arrested for home invasion! He never gave me a notice or anything. Don't I have just as much right to be there as he does?..I'm scared.. Never a written notice or anything!Help! I don't want to goto prison over something I believe I had rights to. Thank you for helping me

If you are subject to criminal penalty hire an attorney. From your information you were a subtenant of your friend's mom. Since you left your stuff I might argue that you intended to return and were illegally locked out but an attorney needs to help fill in the blanks and make sure you get your testimony straight.
