Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

What rights does an attorney have after resigning from a personal injury case? .

I have an attorney who resigned, I finished up the settlement for more money within 3 months after he did little for 5 years. Ethically what should happen. There is a lien for the amount he wanted me to settle for 33 1/3. He refuses to accept less. The accident happened in Arkansas and I live in IL. Any information will be helpful. Thanks.

You must honor your contract with your attorney and pay him the 1/3 of what he was able to get for you. That would be ethical. The attorney is also entitled for reimbursement for all the costs he spent during the time he prosecuted your case.
