Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Warrant for missing court 3 years ago...

I missed court for a driving with revoked license 3 years ago. I moved to Texas right after that. Not to hide or anything like that but because I had to. My whole family was moving there so I had to also. I just recently moved back and learned that I had a warrant for my arrest. I called and I would have to pay $2000 to stay out of jail. I have 1600 right now. If i go and turn myself in, do you think a judge would reduce my bond enough so I wouldn't have to stay in there? I have 3 children, no one to watch them really, and the father is back in Texas. I don't really have any money for a lawyer either.

I would advise you to take $1500 of the money you already have and hire an attorney. Your attorney may be able to arrange for you to be released from custody on your own recognizance, (no bail), or perhaps even upon your attorney's Entry of Appearance (no bail). Then, if you can get your right to drive legally reinstated, your attorney should be able to arrange for some disposition of the charge against you which will not result in jail time or any additional revocation. I do handle these types of problems myself, and you may call me for a free telphone consultation if you wish. Good luck!

Perhaps you should contact Legal Aid in the county in which you reside? If you get arrested and can't post bond, your kids might go to a foster home...
