Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

One month back I appointed a real estate agent to sell my property in Pune. He inspected the property and then examined the property documents. He then sked me to give him copy of 7/12 extract and layout plan. I gave him these both documents. He said he will be able to sell my property in about two weeks time. However I did not hear back from him for over 3 weeks. When I called on 30th July, he said he is not well and will call back tomorrow but no call came from him. I again called him on 6th and 7th Auigust but he is not takig my calls.

I am a layman and an aged senior citizen. I am worried whether his silence is with ulterior motives and he can sell my property illegally or cause harm to me as he has these documents.

I request your advice to safegaurd my interests.

Regards,

joginder

Hi,

Till the time original documents are in your name and custody, you can be relaxed. Nobody can sell the property based upon the xerox copies.

7/12 and layout plan are public documents and can be obtained by anybody. Only on the basis of copies of 7/12 and layout plan, nobody may be able to sell your property.
