Newspaper writing false infomation

We have a situation that a local newspaper published some information that someone told them and it's false information. She basicly told a newspaper that a man entered her home and raped her. The newspaper never mentioned anything that they used to live together, have two kids, basicly it's all lies. My brothers repuation is ruien my false information. Can he sue the newspaper and his ex-girlfriend?

Depends. Not enough facts to know the answer to your question. If false, she certainly is on the hook for defamation. The newspaper may or may not be. Depends on a number of things/facts.
