Custody when you reside out of state? Which court is used

I have custody and live in Indianapolis the original divorce was in NY. My ex-wife wants to get custody back and I need to know which state is the one that will be hearing the case. And can I have it be brought here where we live so the schools and other theropists reside. I have no time or money to travel back and forth.

NEED HELP.............

Suggest you file a custody modification petition in the Family Court. If the children have lived in New York for more than six months, then New York is their home state for custody purposes.
