Re: ''stepparents and visitation''

As an adult member of a household, a person married to another person who has children, the step-parent only has as much authority over the raising of a child as the parent of the child allows him or her to have. Once the marriage between the parent and step-parent is dissolved, the former step-parent has no authority. You should consult your family lawyer concerning disputes with the other parent of the child if he or she complains about the involvement of a step- parent.
