Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

My Granddaughter and her boyfriend made a baby and moved in together in a rental house. She has been abused and now has a 2 yr restraining order against the boyfriend. She bought an old car for him to rebuild while they were together for $400. He has the title however has never put it in his name since the car is not in running order...it has been dismantled somewhat...the boyfriend refuses to give her the title and no one will take it for scrap since she does not have the title even though it is in her name. She is moving out of the rented house at the end of May and needs to dispose of the car. what are her options?

Have it towed somewhere and give him written notice that if he doesn't claim it, it will be given over for scrap.
