Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

My son bought a house in Sheridan, IN over a year ago. It has an established fence, erected several years before their purchase. A new neighbor is now giving them grief, claiming he OWNS the property with the fence and wants them to move it. They were told a survey was done - but of course, no one can now locate the survey and the neighbor is being a total jerk - claiming they 'devalued' his house. (Huh???? He bought AFTER they did) He has survey sticks placed in their yard, tried to run rope in their yard - which they removed - and is just causing them havoc and headaches - and they don't know what to do next, if anything is needed to be done at all.

It would pay to get a new survey for your son. If he doesn't own the land in question, he needs to vacate it and remove the fence. There may be a possibility that the land in question can be claimed under adverse possession law, but this takes a lawyer to pursue it and the cost is a factor.
