Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Child support and the court contract being upheld

Hi! Well, my problem is that I have a 16year old and a 13 year old that I have been paying child support on for about 12 years and it has always been keep up to date. My x has not one time keep up her side of the contract! Like when I was suppost to get the kids every other weekend, she would always come up something that they always had to do so I would not get them the whole time that I should have. Some of the time it was sports or school stuff which I am all for that, It's the time that she did it just to keep them from me. I am also suppost to get them for 1 month out of every year and I have not once yet had that opportunity! Now I know if I would have missed ANY of my child support at all I would have been put in jail. Please tell me what I can do about this breach of contract. Thank you for your time. I will appreciate any info that you can give me or point me in the right direction. Thanks again! Jeff

Re: Child support and the court contract being upheld

It's not a breach of contract. If there is a court order that spells out your rights and responsibilities and she has not been performing her part your remedy is to hire an attorney and take her to court.
