Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Iowa

blood transfusion

my sister who is 41 is dying from bone cancer, her medical care from the beginning has been a disgrace, a few months ago she was given a blood transfusion and her blood count went even lower than should have been... she has since gone to a cancer treatment center in another state where she is receiving the care she should have received 2 years ago. The other day her new doctor discovered that when the other hospital gave her the blood transfusion it was the WRONG blood. Does her husband have any recourse in suing the original doctor? (Whom by the way she does not go to) all her medical care is done now from this cancer treatment center out of state.
