Legal Question in DUI Law in Kansas

consequences of first felony dui conviction

I have several questions, but would like most to know:

How are my civil rights restricted,or not, by the legal situation created by this conviction?

What is involved in the expungement process and when would I be eligible to begin it (convicted July '06 of offense committed January same year)?

How will this conviction affect my ability to receive professional or vocational certification i.e., chef's or realtor's license?

How does one go about researching further this area of the law on one's own?

Sincere thanks,

Convicted Guy

Re: consequences of first felony dui conviction

You will not be able to get this expunged. As of July of this year, you can no longer expunge a DUI. As for licenses or certification, I would encourage you to contact the organizations you are concerned about. I do know you can be admitted to practice with a DUI.
