minor in possession
I was in school and i recieved a MIP because i had a cooler in the back of my pickup that was parked at the school. they gave me a ticket 2 days later and then 3 weeks later our school cop said that he was going to give me another ticket and that i could get rid of the previous one. my question is how long can they wait to give me a ticket and can they give me a ticket if i wasn't in or near the pickup.

They can charge you for up to two years. They have to prove you possessed the alcohol. Presumably their proof will be that nobody else would have put it in your truck. You may have something to work with regarding whether they had a right to get into the cooler. Talk to an experienced criminal defense lawyer in your area.
