how do i know if he is divorced

My fiance and I would like to get married soon. Only one problem, he doesn't know if his first divorce was ever finalized. How can we find this out so that we can get married.

Call his ex-wife and get a copy of the divorce decree. If you don't know where she is, then check the county court house where they lived and speak with the clerk of court. If that fails, check the vital statistics office for the state. Don't marry him until you are able to confirm the divorce. Your marriage is void if he is currently married. Good Luck.
