Legal Question in Employment Law in Kansas

employment nonpayment

our 17-yr-old son played cello in a professional theater and was told in writing that he would receive $500 on the last day of the show. That was over 10 weeks ago and he has received nothing. We called several times and were told that they would soon start making payments, but that has not happened. Other musicians have told us they had problems with this group in previous shows and either never got paid or had to go to court to get their money. What should we do?

Re: employment nonpayment

It sounds like you need an attorney to assist you if you cannot prosecute a small claims action in the county where the theater is located or possibly where the contract was made.

Perhaps acollectionletter from an attorney would suffice. Keep in mind, they cannot threaten a law suit, unless you are willing to sue.

Good Luck
