Legal Question in Workers Comp in Kansas

How does a rating work

I was injured in 2005 and had meniscus surgery on my left & right knees.

I continued to have problems with the left knee and was sent to 9 different doctors. All said I needed a total knee replacement.

This summer I had the total knee replacement of the left knee, this was approved by work comp.

I expect to be placed at MMI in a few weeks when I see the WC doctor.

I have 2 questions.

1. What type of rating (numbers) is given on a total knee replacement in Kansas?

2. I was given a 10% rating after the meniscus surgery on the left knee.

Once I receive a rating from the total knee replacement, what happens to the previous rating of 10%.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Re: How does a rating work

The knee replacement will be rated according to the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Impairment. The total knee rating will be substantially higher, and will replace the prior rating. Because this case involves bilateral functional ratings, you need to consult an experienced workers' compensation attorney.
