Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kentucky

I was charged by the court of Jessamine County with possession of marijuana, and was charged with 2 years probation in addition to taking random drug screens. After paying the court fees I also found out that I was being charged for each induvidual drug screen, as well as for the background checks being performed on me by the drug screening organization and a monthly fee. Is this legal? I was under the impression that if the state appoints you to take random drugs screens, that they pay for them.

No. The State can provide you with a free defense attorney, but you have to pay for the probation. If the money for probation becomes a big problem tell your attorney, or get one from the KY Dept. of Public Advocacy. Mr. Misdemeanor, "In your corner."
