Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Settlement

I am involved in a lawsuit about a situation that happened as a child. I was contacted by an attorney to join the suit.

I am also in an abusive marriage that I have been trying to end. If the settlement of this case occurs before divorce, is my husband entitled to it also? If so, How can I avoid him receiving any of this money?

Re: Settlement

as a general rule, settlements for personal injuries are not

"marital property" subject to being divided. without

researching the point, my gut reaction is that

settlement for childhood injuries would be excluded in

any event (as distinguished from injuries suffered during

course of marriage).
