Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Rel. Parental Rights

My exhusband and I both agree that in the best interest of our children, he give up his parental rights. He has put them in harms way and is abusive to them. There is a 'supervised visits' order in place, but it does not seem to work. What does the law say of both parents agreeing to terminate one parents' rights???

Re: Rel. Parental Rights

Louisiana law generally opposes total termination unless there is an alternative, such as a step-parent adoption. Why not simply agree to no visitation? Eventually, if you marry a person suitable as a adoptive parent, you can deal with the issue at that time.
