Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Worried Mother

I have issues with the father of my child paying child support. When I went to the courts to get child support. I was denied, because he was getting SSI I was told. I have numerous times tried to contact the father in order to receive child support from him, and he has denied me. I have tried to let her have a relationship with her father, but I think that is promoting him to be a deadbeat dad. I would like to turn the guardianship to one of her grandparents if something should happen to me.

What should I do.

Re: Worried Mother

SSI is one source of income that CANNOT be used to determine child support. May I ask, why in the world would you want this man to "have a relationship" with your child? Write a will naming the grandparents as custodians of the child. The court will do its best to comply with your wishes.

Mr. Pizzolatto is of course correct. And you need a will as soon as possible.
