Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I am a police officer. My Chief has been trying to get me to quit for over a year. He has put me working straight night shifts for 6 mths. When that didn't work, he placed me in the local school as the SRO hoping I would quit. When that didn't work, he started making me work multiple weekends a month on top of my 5 day a week job at the school. I refused to work one weekend and he took my badge and gun from me and recomended my termination to the city council board. They voted in my favor and I kept my job. Since then he put me back on nights working an 84 hr a week schedule. All other officers have a set schedule of 84 hrs every two weeks. He has denied my vacation requests and has been heard saying that he wants me to quit. I do not want to quit my job, but I don't know how much longer I can tolerate this.

You need to pull your employee handbook and see what it says about grievance procedures. There has to be a procedure to take your complaints to the appropriate persons. Are you civil service or in a union? Both of those situations give you options to challenge your chief's actions.
