Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

over time pay

I work at an appliance and electronics warehouse. we work aprox. 50-60 hours a week and after 40 hours it is counted as overtime on our checks but they pay us our hourly pay.. the company told us they dont have to pay overtime because they carry appliances that cross state lines it sounded funny to me so i wanted to find out if it is legal for them to not pay overtime but make us work extra hours.
