I don't understand why you have to be a certin age to work at a store. I am 12 years old and whould like to get a job to make money because I am involed in a very exensive sport.

Because the law generally prohibits the hiring of anyone under the age of 14 and 15 for gainful employment. There are exceptions, such as acting, but certificates and waivers are required. You need to ask your legislators why that is the law. One reason could be that minors with expensive hobbies would give up on school to work and support their hobby without thinking of their future.
