Legal Question in Traffic Law in Louisiana

Traffic ticket

I received a speeding ticket for 47 mph in a 20 mph schoole zone. I just move from Missouri and Louisiana, so I still hold a Missouri's licence. I am not sure what to do! I have never had a ticket. Please give me any advise possible you can! What are the possible fines / jail time? Thanks

The court cost is set by statute and is around $50. The fine depends on the court. Some set it at so much per each mile over. You are looking at something from 150-200. The speed limit was very low at 20mph so if it was a school zone or construction zone, it may be higher. All courts normally will give you additional time to pay. Some will allow you to do a driving school or will amend the violation to a nonmoving to help you with insurance consequences. You will need to speak to the prosecutor prior to court to discuss other possibilities.
