proving inheritance despite loss of will in Louisiana
I have a friend that is a displaced person from Hurricane Katrina who is now now residing in Texas.
His Aunt, his only living relative, has promised inheritance to him after her passing. She died soon after Katrina after fleeing New Orleans to Baton Rouge.
The Aunt's house is destroyed in New Orleans and her will cannot be found in the remains. Her lawyer who helped her draw up the will also cannot be located.
How can my friend proceed to prove his status in the will that cannot be found? Will the Napoleonic Code be of any help to him?

If the will can't be found, then the decedent's estate would pass under Louisiana laws of intestacy, to the closes relatives.
