is first spouse to die's will negated

Years ago, my childless aunt related in a card to me that my siblings and I were to recieve my deceased mother's share of her estate. She died a couple of years ago.Her husband, who was incompasitated in a nursing home, recently passed away.Is her will negated because she passed away first, and will his remaining family members inherit all of their estate?

No, both wills are valid. You need to contact an attorney who can open the joint succession and probate the will(s).
