Can you get felony conviction sealed or expunged in MD? Assault with intent to disable was the charge in 1991 and served five years in prison. Probation ended in 1996.

The short answer is no, because convictions are not expungable.

However, you may be able to attack the conviction by petition for coram nobis. Please understand that obtaining and evaluating the old records in ordert to determine whether you would have a viable petition may involve significant time and financial resources. Then additional resources would be involved, in order to pursue the petition itself. If the petition is successful, then the conviction is overturned and the case is back to where it was pretrial. You may pursue trial or negotiate a settlement witht the state. If the case results in nolle prosequi, stet, or probation before judgement, you may petition for expungement.
