Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Wrote a bad check and I was told I have 48 hrs or they will fille charges

I had a post dated check set up w/ a collection agency and it bounced yesterday. They contact me & said I have 48 hours to get them the money of they will file criminal charges for bouncing a check over state lines. Can they do that? I am reading that I have 30 day written notice to pay

Writing a check with the intention of not honoring payment is a criminal offense. Post dated checks are not honored in Maryland, that means to say that the check can be deposited upon receipt. You should contact the creditor to work out an arrangement or contact an attorney to assist you. Often debts are settled for less than the amount owed.
