You can file an action in your Circuit Court to restrict the father's contact with the child. If you can present evidence that the father's conduct is harmful to the child, the court may limit contact or deny it altogether. The courts generally favor all parents having contact with their children, for the benefit of the children,not for the benefit of the parents, but if the evidence is very strong that the child is being seriously harmed by the parent's conduct the parent's right to continue a relationship with the child can be terminated. You will need convincing and compelling evidence, and you will need a skilled family law lawyer to work with you. Not all behavior which is offensive to you or to the general public is sufficient to teminate a parent's right to be a parent.

If there is a visitation order in place and you think you can establish that it is not in the child's best interests to continue to have unsupervised visitation with the father, you need to go back to court to get the order modified. You may have to retain a child psychologist or some other expert who can testify about the effect on a child who is exposed to this kind of behavior.

If visitation has been by agreement rather than court order, you need to seek a renegotation of the agreement to put safeguards in place to protect your child. Whatever the status, you should consult with an experienced family law attorney to assist you in this.
