Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

How do I get the money owed to me?

For the past three years I have fully supported someone with the verbal agreement that i would get repaid. I have taken out two loans in my name in order for this person to get transportation and their license back. I have been continually lied to and have been told that he has no way of repaying me. This person has a full time job and is currently riding around in a brand new car. How do I get my money back? Can I take this person to court and get their check garnished? Also how much can I sue this person for? If I add it all up it would probably come to around $5000.

Sadly, this happens a lot. you gave money to someone on a "handshake", basically. I take it there was never any paper signed, or receipts of any kind or promissory notes. You can sue for the five grand, but the Court will require proof that it was a loan. Otherwise,it was gift. You could prove your case through a 3rd party or with a cancelled check(s). I take it the person you gave the money will deny it. Good luck. Call for add'l information. Joe Trevino, 1-800-924-6217.

Re: How do I get the money owed to me?

Well if you don't have any proof that it was a loan then you can sue he/she for your money back and prob.. get more money back.

but the other hand if you don't you are up a creek and you can't really do nothing because its very hard saying that you gave him the money because the judge might look at that he been saving his money up and got a car and what ever else and just see you might trying to pull a fast one over the judge head just feel free to email me and i will giude you the right way
