Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Maryland

injusry case unsettled, attorney threatens to sue me

I was involved in car accident 6 years ago. I was NOT at fault. Doctor gave me attorneys card, I was new to the area, hired him. It has been 6 years. He is threating to sue me for almost 8,000 plus expenses for not coming to an arbitration last week. I had hurt my back again and could not drive. I canceled 36 hours before the arbitration. Can he sue me for canceling?

I would have to know all the facts, but probably not. If your lawyer is threatening to sue you, you should consult with another lawyer and perhaps mention to your lawyer that he has an apparent conflict of interest.
