Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Something added to mortgage

My ex and I bought a home from his parents, they tried to get me to sign a paper saying I would split profit from home if sold before mother in law died. I refused. Divorced, house sold,I ended up with 1/4 of the money, mother in law got half, ex, got the other 1/4. Document was never produced, I never signed anything. Can I sue ex, to recoup the loss? Mother in law passed away, ex has everything.

If you and your ex really bought the home as you describe, you would have a deed with both your names on it, and the house couldn't be later sold without your consent. Your mother in law would not have been entitled to anything from the proceeds, unless she financed your purchase and you signed a promissory note.
