Legal Question in Disability Law in Massachusetts

I have hired an attorney last December to file a guardianship for my daughter. I paid him a retainer of $750.00. He has not filed the guardianship. He does not answer my phone calls or reply to my e-mails. He does not have an office. He works out of his home. He uses a cell to do business. What can I do?

I suggest you send him a certified letter either (1) demanding that he perform the work, if you still want him to do so, or (2) notifying him that you are terminating his services and demanding that he return the retainer immediately. If you do not get a response, you can contact the Office of Bar Counsel, the agency that investigates complaints against attorneys. Their contact information is: Office of the Bar Counsel, 99 High Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02110

(617) 728-8750.

Please let me know if I can assist you in any way. Our office does many guardianships for disabled individuals.

Good luck.
