Legal Question in Consumer Law in Massachusetts

Cheap Pearls

I purchased some pearls at B...dales a large department store. I charged them on my store account. I paid $800.00 for them. They were 50% plus then 10% off. Two days after I received a telephone call from the manager stating that there had been a clerical error and that the pearls would have cost 8K. I couldn't believe my ears. I felt that they were worth what I paid. I have since paid the balance on my account. Do they have the right to require that I return them? I bought them not knowing their worth except that I liked them and I paid what I thought that they were worth. I have had them appraised and the store is correct about their worth.

Re: Cheap Pearls

Were the pearls advertised at 800.00?

Re: Cheap Pearls

Maria raises a good question. Was there a tag on the pearls.

There are two sides. A contract is based on the meeting of the minds. Here there is an apparent error. All that you have for the existence of the error is what the manager said. You could take the pearls for a preliminary appraisal.

THis situation raises questions that have not been answered. You are welcome to contact me to discuss this.
