Legal Question in Elder Law in Massachusetts

My mom is 84 and has alzheimers. She lives with my sister and has for the last 8 months. We recently cashed in moms last C.D to do repairs on her home even though she is no longer able to live there. My question is, can the remaining amount from the cd be given to my sister for caring for her? My sister has'nt taken a dime while caring for her. Also what can we do with a small life insurance policy worth 17,000 before we move her to a nursing home, which has become urgent?

You really don't want to do anything without speaking to an elder law attorney. There are too many moving parts, and the risks are immediate. An online forum for general legal information is not going to be sufficient. I wish you and your mom the best during this difficult time.
