Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Massachusetts

Documents e-mailed from work

I sent myself a list of customers and also a list of vendors from my work e-mail. i have no intention of starting a company that will compete against my former company, but can i get in trouble for that? Is it civil or criminal trouble?

Re: Documents e-mailed from work

You have taken information from your employer that they may regard as proprietary (or "trade secret") information.

YOU NEED TO HIRE A LAWYER NOW WHO IS WELL VERSED IN MASSACHUSETTS TRADE SECRET LAW.

Call the MA or -- yes, you're reasonably near Boston -- the Boston bar association and ask for a referral if you do not know a good trade-secret lawyer yourself.

The Boston Patent Law Association might also be a good source of referrals for a trade-secret lawyer.
