Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Massachusetts

Patents

My grandfather was issue a patent for Inner Spring Mattresses in or around 1934. Patent Number 1955583 - is this patent still have any validity? And could this have ever been infringed upon or is there no way of knowing? Thanks.

Re: Patents

A patent issued circa 1934 has long since expired, probably around 1951. Any actionable infringement could only occur while the patent was active. The Statute of Limitations would also apply. It too has long since lapsed. Finally, there is the issue of whether you even have standing to file a lawsuit. When did he die and who inherited his patent rights?

So the bottom line, is that you can do nothing at this time.
