Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Massachusetts

child/minor/emmancipation/dss

I have a 17 year old friend who is involved with dss, he consistantly explains his want to go home, its to the point he runs away, and is now talking self infliction. if not to go home he wants to be emancipated and be on his own, possibly make a deal with a judge but is scared he will get more in trouble and doesnt want dss to say he is incompitent and keep him longer than 18. He is a junior in HS and is trying to get a job locally does he have any way out of dss, he is not a threat to himself or others he is just fed up with the system and feels he is better off with out DSS.
